GRANTS & FUNDING
You may not have to pay for it all.
Wildfire mitigation is a huge tool in protecting entire communities on public or private and in many parts of Montana, funding is available to help pay for it.
If your property qualifies, you could receive cost-share support to reduce fuels, improve forest health, and complete critical treatments. These grants aren’t just for large tracts of land. Many homeowners are eligible, especially in high-risk zones.
Firebreak will help guide you to what’s available, guide you through the process, and coordinate directly with grant managers—so you can focus on your land, not the paperwork.
Working with Gallatin County
We regularly partner with Jay Pape and the Gallatin County Fuels Reduction Program and the NRCS, who offers site visits, treatment maps, and grant evaluations.
Here’s how it works:
Coordinated Projects Save Money
If your neighbors are also interested in treatment, you may be able to share mobilization fees—saving everyone time and money while creating a broader zone of protection.
What we can help with:
- Reviewing your location for grant eligibility
- Coordinating directly with grant managers
- Preparing bids and maps for submission
Answering questions about timelines and cost-share expectations - Helping you advocate for your project
